ABOUT

Project Objectives and Innovative Characters:

The development of entrepreneurial mindsets is becoming embedded in policy across Europe. Previous researches have shown the essential role that education plays in the development of such mindsets, and in particular the central role that teachers play in this process. It requires nothing less than a sea change in the approach to education, emphasizing active learning and the provision of new experiences for students outside of the classroom. For many education systems this represents a fundamental shift away from traditional approaches. By this Intensive Programme, we aim to improve competences and quality for creativity and entreprenuership in society, to encourage schools to place greater importance on entrepreneurship education and to organize entrepreneurship activities to motivate young people to develop their potential and prepare them to be stars of tomorrow’s employment market.

Existing teaching programmes of participating institutions have useful ties and support the themes of the Intensive Programme. Participating institutions have many educational programmes at graduate and undergraduate levels. For example, Sakarya University Institute of Educational Sciences has graduate programmes like Educational Management and Supervision, Educational Curriculum and Instruction, Life Long Learning, etc. These programmes offer a wide range of lessons about creativity and entreprenuership. Other institutions have also various courses about these themes. The innovative character of this Intensive Programme appears in the multidisciplinary feature of the programme.

When we analyse the curriculums and education practices of partner institutions, they all have lessons and curriculums about the topics, but, on the other hand, the need for a multicultural and multidisciplinary approach is apparent. Because, in today’s technology-intensive world, the variety of practices, which can only be derived by creative skills, are very important. In this Intensive Programme, we will ensure the variety of practices by bringing various partners from different subject-areas. By this way, the production of innovative practices and educational resources can be managed by a European team which will act as a sustainable working team at European level.

Several pedagogical and didactic approaches will be used to realize project objectives. Lectures and workshops will constitute the two main frames of our methodology. In the first phase of the programme teachers from different countries will give lectures about the main themes of the Intensive Programme according to their specialization in the field. While giving lectures they will use teaching methods like presentation, question-answer, case studies, group discussion and demonstration.

In the second phase of the programme, there will be workshops with students that teachers will direct. In these workshops, the audience will be divided into groups according to their interests and subject areas. In the workshops, generally group discussion, brain storming and project based activities will be used as teaching methods. Project-based activities will especially involve the practices which are planned and carried out by ICT-based teaching and learning tools. By the use of ICT, we intend to develop the innovative, technical and creative skills of both students and teachers.

Direct beneficiaries of the IP will especially BA students who are attending to teacher training departments and MA students who are attending to educational sciences departments, especially educational management and supervision department. Planned ratio of teaching staff to students is % 40-50. By this high ratio, we wish to success more participation and direction of teachers to the activities of the students. Teachers’ active participation will make students better directed and ensure the quality of the workshops and project-based activities. Various ICT tools like computers, internet, web-sites, projectors etc. will be used for the IP and outcomes of the lectures and workshops will be presented and evaluated via the web-site.

The students will be awarded 6 ECTS credits.

Project Summary:

The main objective of this Intensive Programme is to develop ICT-based educational materials and a curriculum about the topics of “creativity” and “entrepreneuership” in education. Creativity is defined as the tendency to generate or recognize ideas, alternatives, or possibilities that may be useful in solving problems, communicating with others, and entertaining ourselves and others. A creative act is an instance of learning and that a comprehensive learning theory must take into account both insight and creative activity. Entrepreneuership, on the other hand, can be defined as the process of creating value for business and social communities by bringing together unique combinations of public and private resources to exploit economic, social or cultural opportunities in an environment of change. Entrepreneurship education seeks to provide students with the knowledge, skills and motivation to encourage entrepreneurial success in a variety of settings. Creativity is a matter of ability. The learner’s creative potential has to be encouraged. Entrepreneur is the driver of creativity. Creative thinkers are like good investors into their life and future. Entrepreneurship education seeks to provide students with the knowledge, skills and motivation to encourage entrepreneurial success in a variety of settings.

The IP which is very innovative in its nature with the emphasis of the creative practices for entreprenuership. Methodologically,  creativity  in  entrepreneurship has  been  explained  through  cognitive processes, attitudes motivation, existing knowledge, work environment and personality traits.  By providing rich and varied contexts for pupils to acquire, develop and apply a broad range of knowledge, understanding and skills, the curriculum should enable pupils to think creatively and critically, to solve problems and to make a difference for the better. It should give them the opportunity to become creative, enterprising and capable of leadership to equip them for their future lives as workers and citizens. It should enable pupils to respond positively to opportunities, challenges and responsibilities, to manage risk and cope with change and adversity. So, in our Intensive Programme we will especially concentrate on how we can develop creativity for entrprenuership in education for all students and shareholders of education and training community.

The target group of the Intensive programme will be all of the shareholders of education and training process like pre-service teachers, teachers, teacher trainers, school administrators and educational leaders. Main activities of the programme will include the lectures, workshops, case studies of best practices and discussions of study groups. All of the products of this Intensive Programme will be shared via the project web-site. Before the programme we will prepare brocuhure and papers including programme and introducing hosting university and area. At the end of the programme, the academic presentation of each country will be combined and these presentations will be published as a book.
