Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye), officially the Republic of Turkey, is a contiguous transcontinental country, located mostly on Anatolia in Western Asia and on East Thrace in Southeastern Europe. Turkey is bordered by eight countries: Bulgaria to the northwest; Greece to the west; Georgia to the northeast; Armenia, Iran and the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan to the east; and Iraq and Syria to the southeast. The Mediterranean Sea is to the south; the Aegean Sea is to the west; and the Black Sea is to the north. The Sea of Marmara, the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles (which together form the Turkish Straits) demarcate the boundary between Thrace and Anatolia; they also separate Europe and Asia. Turkey’s location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia makes it a country of significant geostrategic importance.
The Turkish War of Independence, initiated by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his colleagues, resulted in the establishment of the modern Republic of Turkey in 1923, with Atatürk as its first president. Turkey is a democratic, secular, unitary, constitutional republic with a diverse cultural heritage. The country’s official language is Turkish. The vast majority of the population is Muslim. Turkey is a member of the Council of Europe, NATO, OECD, OSCE and the G-20 major economies. Turkey began full membership negotiations with the European Union in 2005, having been an associate member of the European Economic Community since 1963 and having joined the EU Customs Union in 1995. Turkey’s growing economy and diplomatic initiatives have led to its recognition as a regional power.

Sakarya
Sakarya Province (Turkish: Sakarya ili) is a province in Turkey, located on the coast of Black Sea. The Sakarya River creates a webbing of estuaries in the province. Sakarya is located in the Marmara Region. Its adjacent provinces are Kocaeli to the west, Bilecik to the south, Bolu to the southeast, and Düzce to the east. The capital of Sakarya is Adapazarı. The climate is oceanic due to its close proximity to the Black Sea. Sakarya is situated on the Ankara-Istanbul Highway. It is connected through both road and rail. Sakarya is serviced by Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen International Airport airport Akmis Tour has a service from Sabiha Gökçen to Sakarya.The current mayor of Sakarya is Zeki Tocoglu.
Sakarya University (Sakarya Üniversitesi) is located in Sakarya, Turkey. It was founded as Sakarya Engineering and Architecture in 1970. It renamed as Sakarya State Engineering and Architecture Academy in 1971. It opened Master of Science and Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) programs in 1980. The programs were executed by İTÜ (İstanbul Technical University) Institute of Pure and Applied Sciences. It was bounded to İstanbul Technical University in 1982 as Sakarya Engineering Faculty in 1982. Nowadays, Sakarya University has 13 faculties, 4 institutes, 4 academies and 14 vocational schools and about 75.000 students. Sakarya University is one of the leading Turkish universities for its international exchange programmes. It allows a wide number of students to go on their education at different universities of Europe. Owing to Academic Agreements with more than 20 countries, Sakarya University hosts students from different countries of Europe, America, Africa, Asia and Far East.
